The World Health Organization has classified the coronavirus outbreak as a global health emergency, and governments around the world are taking action to control the virus from continuously spreading. The illness caused by the virus, COVID-19, has claimed the over 1 million lives and has sickened 30 million people in more than 190 countries.

 

COVID-19 has shown that Universal Health Coverage, strong public health systems and emergency preparedness are essential to communities and to economies. The pandemic’s impact won’t just be felt for a few weeks but for months and perhaps years to come. Since the scale of the crisis became apparent over the last year, Qismat Trust has been working hard to keep our members informed and to share information about the United Nation’s new initiative towards Universal Health Coverage as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Influence is: any person who has the power (be it positive or negative, cultural, ideological, financial, political or otherwise) to make a change that will have a significant impact on the Muslim World. The list selects Muslim individuals from a range of categories of influence, 14 in total: (Scholarly, Political, Administration of Religious Affairs, Preachers and Spiritual Teachers, Philanthropy/Charity and Development, Social Issues, Business, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture, Qur’an Recitors, Media, Celebrities and Sports Stars, Radicals, and Issues of the Day).
